Aloha is a romance drama that finds Bradley Cooper's character, Brian Gilcrest in between a past love and a developing love affair. Gilcrest is a former military man, who is now a military contractor. He got a big job in Hawaii, a place he left 13 years ago, where his ex girlfriend who he hasn't seen for 13 years still resides. They rekindle their love, and he finds out so many information about their past relationship he never knew about. In between all of that, he starts to develop feelings for Allison (played by Emma Stone), the female captain assigned to him for his stay in Hawaii. It is a very intriguing love triangle.
It is great to see how far Emma Stone has come from acting high school movies in her late teens, to now playing in the big leagues. Her character was talkative and very hyper-active in this movie, and it is great to watch as Bradley Cooper's character, Brian falls in love with her, even though he is reconnected with the effortlessly beautiful ex, Tracy (played my Rachel McAdams). The backstory of the movie sort of throws off the romantic feel of the movie a lot, and makes you feel like you are watching an espionage movie, but there are moments of electrifying romance, and heightened emotions.
The casting is also pretty good. Alec Baldwin and Bill Murray put that star-studded feel to the movie, without it being cheesy. Also, the choice of 15 year old (she was 13 at the time of shooting the movie) Danielle Rose Russel as Grace, Rachel McAdams daughter in the movie was perfect...They look so much alike. This is definitely a good romance drama. I would give it a 7.5/10 rating.
