Movie Review: The First Time (2012)

Very Very Good

This is not your typical high school romance comedy. First of all, the way the movie starts off is just genius. I mean, it is not some complicated plot or anything, the ball was set rolling right from the first scene of the movie. As in, boy meets girl, girl really likes him...that kind of thing. But this is not in a cheesy way or anything.

So here is how it goes...Dave is crushing on Jane, but they are just friends. He is thinking of how to break it to her that he wants to be more than just friends, and while he is going over his lines on how he is going to let her know that, he meets Aubrey in a most unusual way. They escape the cops at the party, and end up at Aubrey's house, where Dave ended up spending the night and having to jump out the window the next morning when Aubrey's mom knocks on her door. They catch up later and things happen so fast, till they are totally into each other.

This is one of the best high school movies I have seen in a while. The characters are totally lovable...I mean ALL the characters. The plot is really cool. And it has such a nice message on how it is always better to have sex for the first time with that person you are really into, and not some guy you have no feelings for. I like how it passed over this message in not a preachy way. I also like how the movie let teens know sex is not all magical at first, but can get better...especially with the one you love.

This is a great RomCom...I'd give it a 9,5/10 rating.
