This movie actually started out as a Romance Comedy, and then the drama crept in. Charlie (Logan Lerman) is a freshman in high school that is looking to at least make it through the 1,385 days of high school without drama. He just wanted to make it through in peace, even if it meant not having any fun at all. Till he met two seniors, Patrick (Ezra Miller) and the beautiful Sam (Emma Watson). He went to meet their other friends, and things seemed to change for him drastically; he was now having so much fun with his new found clique, till he got into a love triangle between two of his friends.
This movie has so many angles too it. The drama/psychological part of Charlie's haunting past, coming back to haunt him in sorrowful flashbacks and blackouts. And also the innocent undiluted love between teenagers. And gay love, and how hard it is for gay lovers to live normal lives, in a world of mostly homophobic people. There are so many parts where scenes from the past and the present get twisted together, in telling Sam's dark story, and it is done brilliantly by the director. There are also a lot of funny moments in the movie that sandwich well with the drama. I would give this romance drama a 7.5 out of 10 in rating, It is a good watch.
