Very Very Good
This is the real deal; a gem. I watched it when it first came out in 2004, and just finished watching it again, and it had the same effect on me. It is a timeless classic of a Romance Drama.
Noah (played by Ryan Gosling) is strongly attracted to the Allie, the daughter of a rich man that came to spend the summer in town. Their lives are far apart, but they fall in love anyway, and it was a very electric romance between them. Then Allie's parents intervened in their love affair when they noticed things were getting to serious between them. They didn't want their daughter spending the rest of her life with a common man. Noah and Allie were separated for a while, but found a way back together. And they lived happily ever after. Well, maybe not so happily. I guess that's why this movie is so great. They showed us the other side of the rush of passion of a couple's early love life. The ups and downs, and the problems that can come and tear love apart. But this love was so genuine...so strong, it survived all that, and it was 'till death do us part' with them...literally.
I love how passionate their romance is, and how it kicked off from the very first scene of the movie. And the movie was able to hold the viewers attention till the very end. Rachael McAdams electrifying smile, and Ryan Goslings sweet bad boy charm was just so great to watch on screen. I am surprised this two didn't go ahead and date in real life. I mean, that had to be more than just acting I saw in this movie...They really put their hearts into it. Oops! I just did a google search and found out they actually dated for a couple of years after the movie.
Its a really great movie. I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10 in rating. I would have given it a 10 out of 10 easily, but there is a part where Rachel McAdams went to see her fiancee, and they talked about how much she loved Noah. I don't think that scene was well written. I wont say much about that part to avoid spoilers, but I just feel it is the only glitch in the whole movie.
